Far West Nepal
A documentary journey down Nepal’s Seti and Karnali rivers.
Fly fishing, rafting, and the fight to keep wild rivers flowing.
01.
Free Flowing is a documentary project exploring Nepal’s Seti and Karnali river system through expedition, fly fishing, and life along the river. Traveling by raft through remote Himalayan terrain, the project combines adventure with an examination of the ecological and cultural importance of free-flowing rivers. As hydropower development threatens to permanently change the Seti–Karnali system, Free Flowing aims to document the river, its fisheries, and the communities who depend on it — capturing a living river at a critical moment in time.

This is a work-in-progress rough cut shared as a proof of concept. A refined teaser and full documentary are currently in development.

One of Nepal’s last wild river systems
Home to Golden Mahseer and river-dependent communities
A living river facing irreversible change
Nepal’s constitution recognizes a right to a clean and healthy environment.
05.
This is a two-week rafting and fly-fishing expedition through remote Himalayan river canyons — no roads, no crowds, and no easy access. You’ll travel by raft down the Seti River into the Karnali, Nepal’s last major free-flowing river system. Days are spent fishing wild water for Golden Mahseer, reading currents, earning each cast, and camping on riverbanks that very few people will ever stand on.This expedition exists because the river still flows freely — for now. By joining, you’re not only experiencing a rare adventure, you’re also supporting the production of Free Flowing, a documentary capturing this river, its fishing, and the communities who depend on it before it changes.

After a successful angling journey in April last year, we’re opening limited spots for an expedition down the Seti River into the Karnali. This journey supports the ongoing production of Free Flowing and invites participants to experience the river before it changes.
